The Company
Why we built it
Third-party data got murkier. First-party data got decisive.
Every engagement started the same way. A client with more analytics than they could act on, and no reliable account of what was actually hitting the site. Sampled sessions. Blocked tags. Attribution models that disagreed with each other, and with the revenue.
The web kept moving underneath all of it. Search turned into answer engines. Crawlers turned into agents. A rising share of the traffic that decides whether a brand gets found, cited and bought from never executes JavaScript, never fires a tag and never shows up in an analytics report at all.
One record still sees every bit of it: the server log. Every request, first-party, unsampled, before anything can block it, batch it or model it away. We were already reading logs by hand on every audit. Salience is that work, made permanent and made live.
Meet the Founders

Carl Hendy
Co-founder
Carl has spent twenty years in search, advising enterprise brands and the private-equity and venture investors behind them on the commercial value of organic. He co-founded an award-winning search agency and sold it to the UK's largest independent agency group, has audited and advised names including BlackRock, Virgin Group and IG Markets, and leads strategy and the commercial side of the product at Salience.

Nick Redding
Co-founder
Nick has spent twenty years building search and technology teams for enterprise clients. He co-founded that same agency and led its technology through to exit, and now leads the engines and the technical practice at Salience: the ingestion, the classification and everything that turns a raw access log into an answer.

Edd Dawson
Co-founder
Edd has spent twenty years building, growing and selling his own web businesses. Through Compton Media he grew broadband.co.uk over eighteen years into one of the UK's largest dedicated broadband comparison sites, exiting to Genie Ventures in 2021, and still operates a portfolio of content sites drawing millions of visitors a year.
We built Salience for the blind spot we kept running into. If it sounds like yours, come and talk.
