A living bot registry, and name your own bots
Named bots now come from a registry that discovers and verifies new crawlers nightly, and you can add your own bots per website so they stop showing as "Unknown bot".
The bot list is no longer hard-coded. Every named crawler, search engines, AI crawlers, SEO tools, monitors, now lives in a registry that we update nightly. New crawlers seen across the fleet are researched automatically: if they publish documentation and a way to verify them (IP ranges or reverse DNS) and appear on more than one site, they are promoted straight away; otherwise we review them by hand. You will see new bots appear under their real names within a day of them showing up.
Your own bots. Under Website Settings → Your Own Bots you can name the bots only you would know, an uptime monitor, an internal crawler, a partner's fetcher, by the text in their user agent, choose how they are treated, and optionally list the IP ranges they run from so their requests count as verified. You can also mark one of your own apps as not a bot if it is being misclassified. Rules apply to that website only, from the next request onward.
Verification tiers. The Bots page badge now says how a bot was verified: published IP ranges, reverse DNS, network owner, CDN edge, or your own declared ranges, and the hover shows the full breakdown per bot.
